It grew out of my frustration that well-known task managers, such as those provided with Outlook or Lotus Notes, do not provide facilities for composite tasks. Often, tasks and other things todo consist of several activities. Task Coach is designed to deal with composite tasks.

Features

* Creating, editing, and deleting tasks and subtasks.
* Tasks have a subject, description, priority, start date, due date, a completion date and an optional reminder.
* Tasks can be viewed as a list or as a tree.
* Tasks can be sorted by all task attributes, e.g. subject, budget, budget left, due date, etc.
* Several filters to e.g. hide completed tasks or view only tasks that are due today. Filters can be managed through the filter side bar.
* Task status depends on its subtask and vice versa. E.g. if you mark the last uncompleted subtask as completed, the parent task is automatically marked as completed too.
* Tasks can be assigned to user-defined categories.
* Settings are persistent and saved automatically. The last opened file is loaded automatically when starting Task Coach.
* Tracking time spent on tasks. Tasks can have a budget. Time spent can be viewed by individual effort period, by day, by week, and by month.
* The Task Coach file format (.tsk) is XML.
* Tasks can be exported to HTML. Effort can be exported to XML and iCalendar/ICS format.
* Tasks and effort can be printed. When printing, Task Coach print the information that is visible in the current view, including any filters and sort order.
* Task Coach can be run from a removable medium.

RemoteKeys is the Free Software Review I’m writing today.

There are a lot of other macro-type programs out there that extend the abilities of your clipboard to remember snippets of code or things you type often so you can push a button and have it type the code or words for you, but none of them I have tried compare with This Free Software.

I use this software constantly. I’m blown away by the amount of text or code that you can put into each button. It loads fast, takes up barely any resources and I keep it running all day. I’m an uber-multi-tasker with as many as 20 windows and programs running at a time. RemoteKeys has never caused anything to hang or crash on windows 98 SE or windows xp.

I use it to store urls that I would have to type or go to my favorites for. I use it for snippets of code for writing webpages. I use it for signatures for emails and forums. I love The Free RemoteKeys Software and you will too!

Visual Complexity this is not so much a set of free software but it does provide a portal to a range of services and project results on visual mapping of the internet relationships - the results are remarkable.

I followed through a link from Crazyegg (see last post) to the provider of their own visual tracking software and found some of the most amazingly beautiful imagery I’ve seen generated online and the neat thing is that it is all a representation of what we users on the internet are actually doing in real life.
